The answer depends on how you feel about developing and attracting revenue for ministries that are important to you and to others. Some examples are: 1. A historical building fund for restoring and maintaining your building. Many people who are inside and outside the Church such as, the neighborhood, including specific grants which may be given to upkeep churches who would like to see the building maintained and well preserved.
You may be thinking that everyone knows what a Pastor does, or that the other officers know what they are responsible for, so why do I need to write a job description? There are several reasons to consider; identifying talents and strengths for each of the officers will make it clear who may be best suited for a responsibility or project.
In my interviews with Pastors, one of the more difficult conversations is the importance of adjusting the salary of the Pastor(s) and/or Staff with a Cost of Living Adjustment (COLA). Instead of having to visit this annually, the method can be approved once and then the process followed on an annual basis unless an extraordinary event occurs which may require an adjustment.
